Walk-ins are welcome for most routine tests. Some special tests must be booked with QML before you attend, including the Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT). Bookings are also required for Tuberculosis (Quantiferon Gold), Dexamethasone Suppression and VIP tests. You can book online at bookings.qml.com.au or call QML on (07) 2146 3500.

What to bring

  • Your pathology request form (paper or electronic referral) from your doctor
  • Your Medicare card, and any concession or DVA card
  • A list of your current medications

Preparing for your test

  • Some tests require fasting. Only fast if your doctor or the request form tells you to, and follow the instructions you are given
  • Drink plenty of water before your test unless told otherwise, as it makes blood collection easier
  • Keep taking your usual medications unless your doctor has advised you not to
  • Wear clothing with sleeves that roll up easily

QML has more information on preparing for a test.

Costs

Pathology is billed by QML Pathology, not by ZH Doctors Carseldine. QML will let you know if any out-of-pocket costs apply. For billing questions, please contact QML directly on (07) 2146 3500.
